IDSB Showcase at CyberUK 2025

The Institute for Digital Security and Behaviour (IDSB) participated in CyberUK 2025, hosted by the National Cybersecurity Centre, held in Manchester from 6–8 May. Our team was present throughout the conference at a dedicated booth.

At the IDSB booth, attendees had the opportunity to meet and engage with our leading researchers:

🔹 Prof. Adam Joinson – Co-Director of IDSB, pioneering research into how system design influences privacy, disclosure, cyber security, and online behaviour.

🔹 Dr. Joanna Syrda – From the University of Bath School of Management, showcased Threats and Trade-offs, a game-based approach to exploring the economics of cyber security—drawing strong interest from participants.

🔹 Guy Thompson – Doctoral Researcher, presented insights into how hybrid-remote work is reshaping organisational culture and influencing security behaviours.

🔹 Zaina Dkaidek – Doctoral Researcher, discussed her research into how organisations make cyber security investment decisions in dynamic environments.

Our interactive Threats and Trade-offs game proved a crowd favourite, sparking valuable conversations about risk, strategy, and behaviour in cyber defence.

Additionally, Emma Woodward, IDSB Doctoral Researcher, contributed with her expertise during the “Technical Masterclass – Research for Better Cyber Defence” session on 8 May, where she shared insights on adopting a Systemic Design approach to improve the effectiveness of cyber security incident response.

Thank you to everyone who visited our booth—we look forward to continuing the conversation on digital security and behaviour!
